Wheeler Peak - SOLD
"Wheeler Peak", Oil on Museum Board, 8 x 10, Sold
The sun was shining on this view of Wheeler Peak just outside of Taos. The fence was down right by a dry meadow so I climbed over the barbed wire. I usually paint facing the sun so my canvas is in shadow, but I had full sun on it this day and it was a good lesson. Sometimes I become aware of silly rules I have in my mind when it is necessary to break them.

What a great little painting. Describes perfectly the time of year you were there. I know the area well and was trying to figure out your exact spot. Climbing a fence? You agile lass. You are truly a devoted fan of plein air painting.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie--thank you! I always appreciate your comments. Looking at the map, I think we were on El Salto Road--just past Arroyo Seco where Highway 50 takes a 90 degree turn to the left and El Salto Road goes straight. Beautiful up there!
ReplyDeleteMeant Highway 150--I think!
ReplyDeleteYes, 150 makes sense.
DeleteThanks.
I am going to try it.
