I began this painting with the intention of making it abstract than the last painting, but basically went the other way. I appreciate the comments on the last painting about how to become more abstract--I will be trying some new experiments!

As I've mentioned recently, I'm attempting to go more abstract, but it is not easy. I have to make myself stop before the realistic mind comes into play--just leave some things as they are. If anyone has any suggestions about how to approach abstraction, I'd love to hear.

Pink Rose

This is a study using a big brush to lay down abstract shapes, more or less. I want to go more abstract, but it requires a new process--and I keep falling back on what I know. So this and some of the paintings to come are somewhere in between and in order to not become too particular, I am leaving them in a rougher stage.

Its a time of transition for me, yet unclear as to where the transition will lead. The good thing about painting is that sometimes its OK to go with the unknowing.

On the way back from Canyon de Chelly, my husband and I stopped at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon hoping we would find a place to stay, but all rooms were booked. But we waited until 5 pm and were lucky enough to get a cabin nearly on the rim. The sunset and the sunrise over the Canyon were amazing.
