Old Teapot - SOLD

"Old Teapot", 10 x 12 In, Oil on Museum Board
This is another painting of the old teapot. Besides value, shape and paint application, the other thing I am experimenting with is composition and cropped objects.

  1. Really love the lost edges on this piece and the colors work so beautifully together. I must also mention the lush brushwork. I could go on....... Your work is inspiring!

  2. Really lovely! Again. I like that the teapot is facing slightly to the right. Very interesting angle. And i love the reflected colors--the blue on the teapot and the pink on the green cup. Very nice!

  3. Really like these last few multi-object compositions! Love the way you use paint and your sense of light. Also like Jar and Pear and how you handled the diminishing light . . . 25 paintings in a day! I'm probably jealous but only a painter with a wife or staff could possibly do that!!!

  4. Thank you all for your comments! When I watched PKR's "limited palette" demo today she did four small paintings in less than an hour. It was probably compressed and edited for the DVD, but it did show me how it would be possible to paint many small studies in one day. I did try that today--but with checking my email and raiding the refrigerator it took me probably about 1.5 to 2 hours to do four small studies. I think setting a timer makes a big difference--it focuses the mind.
