"Red Salt Shaker with Spoon", 8 x 12 In, Oil on Museum Board
One thing I find interesting about using a palette knife is that it is easier to keep values and colors more distinct from one another however close or contrasting they are. I hope I can transfer this to my use of the brush!
This one's so striking. Great composition, light/dark pattern, colors, paint. Wow! Beautiful. I've been learning so much from your paintings. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant! Each of your paintings is more amazing than the one before it. I look forward to receiving them by email and they always inspire. I really enjoy the way the grayed color mixtures make the saturated colors stand out and glow. The red vessel (salt shaker?) is the star of the show but the gold object in the foreground (apple?) steals the scene the longer I look.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing such an amazing job on this series with the palette knife. This is beautiful! The way you painted the spoon is wonderful and must have been a difficult subject. The whole painting has a beautiful composition and the colors are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI just got the second set from PKR and watched 2 of the dvd-s....can't wait to play!
You will transfer everything you are mastering with the knife to the brush! I just know it:)
Beautiful painting. Love the background color.
ReplyDeleteI dislike the word Awesome, but the spoon painted with a palette knife is well, awesome.
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow! I totally love your palette knife paintings. As KAthy said, the spoon is masterful. And the colors are so rich! You inspired me to get the first set of PKR DVDs and now I think I'll have to follow you into the world of the knife. Wonderful stuff!
ReplyDeleteKathryn your knife paintings are beautiful, so buttery!
ReplyDeleteThis red jumps right out. This one is so well done!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful. I love the layers of paint on the box and the touches of red on the spoon. Great!
ReplyDeleteThis is a favorite. The reflected light on the unlit side of the shaker is subtle and gorgeous. Clean, beautiful color and drawing throughout. And the spoon IS awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this one! So intense and bold with the colors! Keep it up. I can't wait to see how you put this into action with the brushes.
ReplyDeleteEnergy is the first word (other than wow) that comes to my mind. Beautiful job and I, too, love the spoon. Cheri
ReplyDeleteKathryn- I propose a name change to add The Spoon in the title also! You should feel soooooo good and proud.
ReplyDeleteThanks everybody for commenting. I do love doing spoons and took Kathy's advice to change the title of the paint to include "and spoon."
