Hells Canyon from Buckhorn
"Hells Canyon from Buckhorn", 8 x 10 In, Oil on Museum Board
Much of Hell's Canyon in inaccessible by car, but there is a road across the Zumwalt Prairie to the Buckhorn Overlook. This overlook actually is above the Imnaha Valley with the Snake River of Hells Canyon behind a vast set of ridges and valleys.
Zumwalt Prairie and Buckhorn Overlook.
We are planning a horseback painting trip in Hell's Canyon in May, 2018, starting along the Snake River at Oxbow. We met the outfitter when taking a drive up the road from Halfway to Cornucopia, just south of the Wallowa Mountains. This area, with the Wallowa's in Northeastern Oregon just west of the deep canyons of the Snake River and tributaries, is one of the most beautiful and enigmatic places I have ever been. Here is my blog on Halfway in 2010.
