"Cape Disappointment", 9 x 9 In, Oil on Museum Board, Unframed
This is another painting done about a year ago down at the mouth of the Columbia River. There is a wonderful park with both the rocks of the coast and the immense expanse of the river.
I love the colors in the rocks. At first I thought by the title you were disappointed in the painting but after seeing it, realized it must be an actual name. Your work always inspires me to use juicy paint.
Hi Julie--yes--its the name of the Cape just to the north of the mouth of the Columbia River. There are two interesting explanations for the name "Cape Disappointment"--http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Disappointment_%28Washington%29,
But in any case--it is an incredibly beautiful please to paint--both the ocean side and the mouth of that big river.
