Blue and Orange - NFS

"Blue and Orange", 10 x 8 In, Oil on Panel
With this painting of Liz, I decided to use a limited palette--ultramarine blue, cadmium orange, titanium white and ivory black. Sometimes for me the idea of experimenting is more related to restricting my options than expanding them.

  1. Nicely done! I get a sense of curiosity in the way she is looking down. I like the way you painted the hair. The way you modeled the background with a glow to the right really enhances this piece. Great work!

  2. Love the colors in this. The opposing oranges and blues along with the pose are so striking. Beautiful job!

  3. I love these soft colors, too. And I really like the light along her chin and neck. Really well done!

  4. Love her expression! Limited color makes for more emotional content, I think. This just glows!
