This is the first of a series of small paintings that will hopefully get me through the holidays. The format is simple so I don't have to think too much and it gives me a chance to practice painting the essence of the rose. Maybe its an unusual subject for a holiday theme, but somehow seems to me to be fitting.

Very nice composition...I enjoy the use of juicy thick paint. The rose is beautifully done and I can alsmost smell the scent.
