"Nisqually Wind Southwest", 8 x 10 In, Oil, 2022
Painted this last weekend at the Plein Air Washington annual paint-out to the Nisqually Delta. It was cold and windy. The Nisqually river is only 81 miles long but for us old mountain climbers, it is a journey that starts with the icy water rushing from beneath the Nisqually Glacier around the boulders above timberline on Mt. Rainier. It ends at the Nisqually Reach, which has been through many transformations but is now a treasured National Wildlife Refuge.
