Canyon de Chelly Sketch 3 - SOLD

"Canyon de Chelly Sketch 3", 10 x 8 In, Oil on Museum Board
The colors of the Southwest are so different from the colors of the Northwest where I live. It is a challenge to paint these colors and I wonder if I made them a little too intense in compensation for my eye which is use to gray!

  1. No , not too intense at all - they seem just right to me and I have seen them look just like this.
    Lovely painting Kathryn

  2. Kathryn, Julie beat me to it, but I agree with her. I think it conveys the colors brilliantly. Pun intended. My favorite part of the painting is that upside down triangle of smoky blue with the rust peeking through the two brilliant cliffs.

  3. To me, like Julie, the colors are just perfect! They read correctly and have a beautiful harmony. Plus like Jan said, the smoky blues really set them off. Lovely! Let me know if you ever hear something about France, I'd love to paint with you there!

Bruce--no plans for France right now, but let's just keep in touch!
