In this painting from a photograph, I experimented with different paint mixtures to get better color saturation. Eastern Oregon is one of the most beautiful areas of the Northwest. The Wallowa Mountains rise up from Joseph like the Swiss Alps. Hells Canyon at sunset is eerie, rugged and beautiful. The farm lands around Baker City, as in this painting, are expansive and lush.
