Canyon de Chelly Sketch 1 - SOLD

"Canyon de Chelly Sketch 1", 8 x 10 In, Oil on Museum Board
Because of the health issue I mentioned in an earlier post, I am spreading out my "daily paintings". I have slowed down on my painting activity. The next series of paintings are sketches I did with a group of artists in Canyon de Chelly a couple of weeks ago. We had beautiful weather and our Navaho guides were amazing! You can't just drive into the Canyon--guides are required and special vehicles necessary. Most of the land is still owned by tribal members so it is necessary to get permission to paint on their land. I'm labeling all these paintings "sketches" because that is what my state of mind was and what they really are. Maybe I will do more finished paintings of these in the future.

  1. fabulous painting Kathryn - wish I could nail my values like that in plein air.
Missed your post about health issues but hope everything will be okay. Slowing down your painting - is that possible? I have had a few days of bed rest and ended up drawing as I couldn't stand doing nothing. Sending good vibes your way.
