"Roses in the Studio", 16 x 12 In, Oil on Panel
I am still painting almost every day, but because I'm doing a lot of experimenting, some of the paintings are wiped down at the end of the day. Some are wiped down and re-painted multiple times during the day! I was never comfortable with the 6 x 6 inch format of many daily painters and now even less so, partly because I like to use a big brush.

I agree with you Kathryn...I have a love-hate relationship with the 6 x 6 format...lovely roses today!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! What size brush do you use?
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie and Virginia! I have been using a #10 filbert on the last few paintings.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses!!
ReplyDeleteKudos for enlarging! I find you can't really get "into" painting with a tiny support. I see it more as a way to be spontaneous and loosen up before starting a real painting. I'm surprised it's made it as a new size of finished works. It's not for me either. You may do some wiping off, but what you choose to keep is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteI especially love your floral still-life paintings! Somehow, looking at a bright, well-painted bouquet with fruit just makes me happy. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors, beautiful brushstrokes, lovely composition.
ReplyDeleteI, too, love big brushes. I can adjust and use a medium big brush for an 8x8 or even an 8x6. But the 6x6's simply can't be done (at least, by me) with anything except a smaller brush.
This is a beautiful painting. I love the softness and sense of light and shadow. So well done!
ReplyDeletelike the warm feelings!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I also am loving using a bigger brush. Feel like I can really get into the juicy brushwork and learn more right now. I do love it all though. Take care!
