Sierra Madre Cactus

"Sierra Madre Cactus", 8 x 10 In, Oil on Museum Board

I painted last with month with Jolyn Wells Moran at her place on the western side of the tip of Baja near Todo Santos. From her court yard was this magnificent view. Because of possible customs restrictions, I took water soluble oils to paint with--something that I've never done before! I struggled mightily on this first painting and eventually, with subsequent paintings, found it easier to work with a palette knife. I like the idea of not having to deal with mineral spirits, so this was a good experiment!
