Victoria Houseboats

"Victoria Houseboats", 10 x 12 In, Oil on Museum Board

Toward Escalante

"Toward Escalante", 10 x 12 In, Oil on Museum Board
Every spring I go to Southern Utah to paint out in the desert areas. For someone who grew up in the evergreen forests of the Pacific Northwest at sea level, when I cross the mountains to the eastern side I am ever fascinated by the layers of rock and color, and I especially love the area of the Grand Staircase Escalante. These scrubby pines grow at the higher elevations.

Nisqually Reach

"Nisqually Reach", 12 x 10, Oil on Museum Board

This was painted at the annual Plein Air Washington paint-out at Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge in March. The Refuge is a testament to the persevering power of determined environmentalists in Washington State, and I give special thanks to the late Helen Engle, who was instrumental in establishing the Nisqually Refuge along with many other preserves. Thank you, Helen!

Solduc Rapids - SOLD

"Solduc Rapids", 12 x 10, Oil on Museum Board

I painted the Solduc last summer during the Paint the Peninsula event. I love the Olympics. I spent years as a girl backpacking up the rivers--the Hamma Hamma, the Dosewallips, the Elwa, the Quinault. The names alone bring me to a magic place.
