This painting was from a series on a "virtual" paint-out of the Columbia River, a few weeks ago. The Columbia River originates from Lake Columbia in British Columbia and travels north, then south across the border and through Washington State to become the largest river in the Pacific Northwest.

This painting, like most the last few weeks, is from a photo--a photo of one of my favorite painting areas in Washington State. Glacier formed and over 50 miles long, Lake Chelan was the longest lake in the state even before it was dammed in 1927. Our favorite place is Stehekin--a long ferry ride to the northern end of the Lake--the eastern gateway to the North Cascades. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Chelan

A couple of months ago I started on a new path, and with anything new, there are rough edges. But in part, "rough edges" are part of the plan. The goal is to paint small, abstract palette knife sketches with a "devil may care" reckless finish. This is working well for me, except for that annoyingly petty voice of anxiety that comes along when I actually decide to post one of these works of artistry. I would much rather be painting them than posting them. When painting there is more or less a clear start, middle, finish and go on to the next one.
